Dette lille fikse redskab til fremstilling af snore er der fundet enkelte eksemplarer af f

ra middelalderen. Farvefotoet viser to eksemplarer fra Nationalmuseet, et i træ og et i ben. Det sort/hvide foto er af et lollandsk fund fra tidlig middelalder. Genstanden i midten er i artiklen betegnet som en "knap", og de to yderste genstande som "snorevæve". Det er dyreknogler, hvor den ene ende er udskåret med tre spidser. Vi har lavet en kopi i en fåreknogle, og den fungerer fint som snoregaffel!

This is Sigurd, a 12 week old broholmer (a medieval mastif) on his first day at work in the medieval town Sundkøbing.

His collar is made of a leather band, covered in blue silk velvet with brass studs and a gold band at the edges.

The lead is a tablet woven silk/wool band with brass clasp and a tassel. Carsten is wearing a matching belt.

Wear and tear

A well used under garment (særk). Note the wear at the neck, waist, vrist and lower hem. Also note the red color in the armpits from the wollen dress.

We follow all the wollen dresses and some of the under garments, to document traces of wear and tear.

Islandic monks shoe

Found this in Akureyri museum in Island

A sewn monks shoe made in wollen twill. Dated to first half of 15th century. Replica. The seam goes from the toe and under the foot and up the back of the heel.

There was also a sewn mitten with two thumbs (not needle binded) dated around 1400, see close-up of the fabric (couldn't take a picture of the mitten, the glass reflected too much, but it was very big)
